AliExpress is part of the Alibaba Group Corporation. It is hard to believe, but the empire was created in the flat of a simple Chinese man, Ma Yun, known under the pseudonym Jack Ma. After the failure of his first online project, China Yellow Pages, he became obsessed with the idea of creating an online marketplace that would not engage in pure trade, but would help others to sell and buy. Under this vague idea, investments were raised and 17 people were invited in 1999.
Within a few years, Jack Ma built a corporation that took over China, surpassed Amazon, beat Ebay. The company has created a better trading environment. It has its own payment system, AliPay, which does not transfer money to the seller until the buyer confirms that there is nothing wrong with his parcel.
One of the Alibaba Group’s projects is AliExpress. It got off to a successful start in 2010. The bet was on what the world was ready to accept – low prices, interesting products and the opportunity to shop from home. After two years, 800,000 people have become users of the site.
A few facts:

• In 2017, the number of users grew to 100 million.
• On the day of the global sale (11 November), Alibaba Group sites sold $25.3 billion worth of goods, and with such a load, there was no payment system failure.
  The Chinese themselves cannot buy from Aliexpress, there are Taobao and Tmall sites for them. Both AlieExpress and Tmall have many interesting, unusual and very attractive things at democratic prices.
