Aliexpress rules for buyers

To make shopping easier for many shoppers, we’ve prepared up-to-date Aliexpress rules that you need to know and follow. The rules are mandatory, and failure to follow them may result in account blocking and other consequences.

1. Reviews

1.1 Extortion through feedback on orders

Buyers are prohibited from abusing the feedback system on orders. One form of such abuse is extortion and blackmail via reviews. This means that the buyer cannot threaten the seller to leave negative feedback if the seller fails to comply with requirements that were not part of the original purchase agreement.

Forbidden:

  1. Threatening to leave negative feedback for goods, components or services that were not specified in the product description, or are not included in the price of the item purchased. (For example, when a customer demands a case or headphones for a mobile phone that are not included in the package purchased).
  2. Demand a refund for goods, accessories or services that are not listed in the description of the purchased goods;
  3. Execute other unlawful claims.

1.2 Manipulation of feedback on orders

Aliexpress system allows users to evaluate cooperation practices, which affects the rating of both the buyer and the seller. Therefore the abuse of the feedback system also includes the manipulation of reviews to raise or lower the seller’s (shop’s) rating.

It is forbidden:

  1. Leaving fictitious positive feedback in order to improve the seller’s rating and reputation, as well as to gain privileges on the marketplace.
  2. Leaving positive feedback on an item while indicating a rating (1-2 stars) in order to deliberately lower the seller’s rating. In addition, it is forbidden to reorder an item in order to damage the seller’s reputation by publishing negative reviews.
  3. Selling, buying or exchanging reviews for goods and services.
  4. Creating multiple accounts in the system in order to inflate the seller’s rating with positive reviews.
  5. Asking and motivating other buyers to leave false reviews about the seller.

If the buyer has problems with a parcel, the first step is to contact the seller to resolve the problem.

Every buyer is obliged to follow these rules, otherwise their feedback may be deleted. In addition, the account may be subject to a range of other disciplinary measures as a punishment, including restrictions on your rights to buy items and temporary or permanent blocking of the account.

2. Personal messages

Aliexpress encourages communication between sellers and buyers not only within the system, but also via email, social networks, forums and messengers. However, correspondence with the seller must not contain prohibited information.

Prohibited:

  1. Spam

The Chinese marketplace does not allow users to send each other SPAM (messages containing information that the recipient has not requested).

  • Unsolicited offers;
  • Invitations to subscribe to a mailing list unrelated to the transaction being made on Aliexpress;
  • Unsolicited offers to buy or sell items posted on Aliexpress.
  1. Offers to buy or sell bypassing the Aliexpress system.
  2. Threats, profanity, or hate speech.

3. Making purchases from multiple accounts

Buyers are not allowed to create multiple accounts in order to influence the rating of a shop or a product. A purchase from a dummy account can also be considered as an order from accounts of friends, family members, employees and online communities.

Prohibited:

  • Place orders from multiple accounts for the purpose of purchasing the same product.
  • Asking or motivating friends, acquaintances or family members to buy from your account in order to artificially increase the volume of purchases or to improve your customer rating.

Violation of the rules is punishable by cancellation of the rating of the buyer, temporary or permanent blocking of the account.

4. Unpaid orders

The buyer has 20 days to complete payment for an item after placing an order and clicking on Buy Now.

A large number of unpaid orders will result in a number of disciplinary actions, including restrictions of your rights to purchase items, as well as temporary or permanent account blocking.

5. Abuse of Buyer Protection

If a buyer has a problem with the delivery or quality of an item they bought from Aliexpress, the buyer has the right to open a dispute for a refund paid.

Allowed:

  • Open a dispute if the product has not been received and the problem has not been resolved in dialogue with the seller.
  • The item has been received, but it does not match the stated characteristics on the product page or has mechanical damage.

Prohibited:

  • To open a dispute over an order when monetary compensation has already been received.
  • Opening a dispute to get back at the seller.
  • Opening a dispute when there is no real reason to do so.

It is strictly prohibited:

  • Open a dispute because “Goods not received,” even though the mail has actually been received.
  • Claim that the item is not as described on the product page, when in fact, the purchased item is fully compliant with the advertised specifications.
  • Open a dispute if the buyer has already received a refund from the seller or a chargeback has been made to the payment system.
  • Opening a dispute to get back at the seller for previous lost disputes.
  • Intimidate the seller by opening a dispute to get additional items or discounts on subsequent orders.
  • Initiate disputes for the same reason.

6. Penalties for ignoring and breaking the rules

Aliexpress administrators may punish buyers for ignoring and violating site rules with the following disciplinary actions:

  1. Cancellation of the buyer’s rating;
  2. Temporary blocking of your account;
  3. Lifelong account blocking (Cannot be recovered).

In case of blocking the account of the offender, the administration can impose sanctions on other accounts that contain identical delivery address, payment details, IP address, email address, registration data. Punishment of linked accounts applies at the discretion of the Aliexpress marketplace administration.
