For a while there has been a “coins and coupons” section on the AliExpress mobile app and another one called “freebies” that usually doesn’t have much information about them. After getting some questions about them, we decided to create this complete guide explaining how they work and whether they are worth using.
Coins and coupons
To enter the coins section, you need to access the AliExpress app and search for the “coins and coupons” section. This section is only available in the AliExpress mobile app and we will find everything related to coins: how to get them and how to exchange them for coupons or products. It’s pretty interesting if we know how it works.
How do you get the coins?
When you log in, you’ll see a coin-shaped icon at the top. If we click on it, we get coins. The first day they will only give us 1 coin, but they will increase until the eighth day, and later they will give us 16 coins. But there are other ways to get coins, as we will tell you below.
How do I get more chances to win a freebie? Daily Missions.
If you want to have more chances to win freebies, you will need more coins, and we can get them with daily missions. These are very simple missions, currently there are 3 missions for today:
- Try searching for items by photo, we’ll get 2 coins.
- Share a new collection with friends, we’ll get 1 coin.
- Exchange coins for coupons or products, we’ll get 3 coins.
As you can see, all simple tasks. They may change in a few weeks, but for now all you have to do is click on each mission icon, and the app itself will explain how to complete them.
Plant a money tree
This is one of the games we will find in the coin and coupon section. It is about planting a tree and watering it every day. We can water it with the free drops of water they give us every day, and we can also pay extra coins to make the tree grow faster. As it grows, it will bear fruit, which in this case are rewards: coins and coupons.
The truth is that it’s a pretty slow game, because at best we can get about thirty points each day, and the tree dies at a thousand points, but it’s pretty exciting, and prizes are guaranteed.
Shoot Coupons
Although this is one of the games that AliExpress usually puts on during sales and promotions like 11.11, it looks like this game will stay in the app a little longer. All you have to do is buy a shot for coins and shoot in the direction of the coupon arrow. If we hit, we win a discount coupon, which can vary depending on which coupon you hit on the screen. For example, I got two coupons for 1 $.
Rules
- One game costs 5 coins. If you leave the game without finishing it, you lose 5 coins and the game is not saved.
- In each game you can turn over 2 cards, after which you will see your winnings. You can win coins, coupons, or nothing. You can win even if the cards don’t match.
- You can play this game up to 10 times a day.
What are the coins for?
Coins can be exchanged for a lot of interesting gifts, which will help us save when buying at AliExpress. Gifts are mostly coupons and items (free or with a certain discount thanks to coins).
Exchange Coins for Coupons
For me, the best part about getting coins is being able to exchange them for coupons. We can get two types of coupons: AliExpress coupons, which apply to any AliExpress purchase from a certain amount, or merchant coupons, which will only be useful in certain AliExpress stores.
The first, AliExpress coupons, are the hardest to get, as they are highly sought after by site shoppers, although they are updated every hour. We will be able to get coupons for $1, $3 or $8, and we will be able to apply them to any AliExpress purchase (one or more sellers) when we reach a certain minimum amount.
Second coupons, vendor coupons, are much easier to obtain and are a good way to save money, since the minimum purchase amount is usually very small. In the coins and coupons section, you can see all the stores that offer coupons, as well as the number of coins needed to get a coupon.
Exchanging Coins for Items
Another option is to exchange coins for items by paying $0.01 or getting a small discount when you buy coins. Free items are almost impossible to get and are updated daily at 00:00 Pacific time. However, discounted items are much easier to get, although the range of items is very limited. Like almost free products, they are also updated daily.
How do I exchange coins from the app?
Coins in the app can be exchanged for merchandise or coupons in the Coins & Coupons section.
Exchanging Coins for Merchandise
Under “Exchange Coins for Merchandise”, you’ll see a list of items that you can get for coins. Go to Coins & Coupons > Exchange Coins for Products.
Open the item description page and verify that the item is available for purchase with coins. You can place your order and the coins amount will be deducted automatically. You will need to pay US $0.01 and the required amount of coins.
Exchanging Coins for Coupons
Under “Coin Exchange for Coupons” you will see a list of coupons that you can get for coins. Go to Coins & Coupons > Exchange Coins for Coupons.
Coins will be automatically deducted when you exchange them. Coupons are available every day. The number of coupons is limited.
Coins will not be added. What to do?
Coins in the AliExpress app (Coins & Coupons section) can be obtained through games and promotions. Go to Coins & Coupons in the AliExpress app to find out how many coins you have.
For example, if you received a notification, “Please use a different device to sign in,” there is unusual activity on your account, so you cannot use all of the features. Check your account and try again.
Freebies and reviews
The freebies section, very recently introduced on AliExpress, is another one that we have received quite a few requests for. It’s pretty easy, we just need to access and choose the products we would like to get for $0.01 instead of its original price. We will only be able to select 2 products per day. Then all we have to do is wait and if we are selected, pay $0.01 and check out the product when it arrives.
Undoubtedly, getting free gifts is quite difficult because many people ask for them, but you won’t lose anything by trying since it is completely free and very fast.
