There is a lot of information about how to open a dispute correctly. But there are almost no instructions on how to proceed with the dispute and get your money back. Therefore, inexperienced buyers ask hundreds of questions: “The seller rejected the dispute. What should I do?” Or remain dissatisfied with the results of the dispute: “I requested a refund of 10$, and the seller returned a measly 1$. There was nothing I could do.”
What to do if the seller rejected the dispute?
Many buyers don’t realize that a dispute is inherently bargaining. The buyer offers his own return terms. And his task is to return the maximum percentage. And the seller’s task is to bargain the most favorable conditions for himself. That’s why it is better for the buyer to immediately assign a percentage of return on the maximum possible with this problem. And the seller will try to edit the dispute and put the amount of the refund as low as possible or zero rubles. But you should not agree to his terms!
How does the dispute usually take place?
You open a dispute on Aliexpress, describe the problem, attach evidence and put the desired amount of refund. Next, you wait for the seller’s response offer. He will either accept your offer or reduce the refund amount. And you will need to respond to his offer within 5 days.
Usually, the seller at most discounts the amount of the refund. Often even to zero rubles. Moreover, his task is to prove to you that the goods he sent normal (even if the joints are visible to the naked eye). Sellers begin to assure that it is you are mistaken / do not understand anything in the product / can use it so / they broke the product / thing beautiful and so will go / can resell. The especially talented ones ask you to figure out a way to use the item, even if the color-size-fashion doesn’t fit. Like, “So what if the purse came in acid-salad. It is fashionable, buy shoes in the color and wear.” And if the buyer is inexperienced, it seems to him that the dispute is “lost” and the seller refused to return the money. He clicks “Accept dispute” out of desperation and does not get the desired amount.
In fact, if the seller rejected your offer and set the refund amount to “0″, that’s where the dispute just starts. You need to edit the dispute again, putting the desired refund amount. And, if there are additional photos or video evidence, then attach them to the dispute.
How long can I keep a dispute?
The dispute can be edited many times! Do not despair if the seller did not accept your terms the first time! Just insist on what you want!
Usually buyers edit the dispute 3-4 times. Then they already run out of arguments and evidence. If the seller does not agree to the amount of refund that suits you, then you need to escalate the dispute and the mediators will decide on your issue.
Mediators see and read the whole history of the dispute with all the evidence and refund amounts you asked for. And if you have enough arguments that the product came bad, then they will decide on the refund based on their experience and instructions. If the evidence is not enough, they will ask you to provide additional photos or videos. Therefore, always closely follow the progress of the dispute, that you will be able to respond in time to the mediators’ requests or to the seller’s offer.
Dispute for the reason “The goods did not arrive”
If you escalated the dispute with the reason “The goods did not arrive“, but the seller has provided documents that the goods were sent and go to you, the mediators will simply ask you to wait for the parcel. Therefore, do not be afraid to open disputes and conduct them.
The most important thing is to keep an eye on the buyer protection timer, open disputes in time and remember that you are free to edit the seller’s counteroffers and argue until the seller’s terms suit you. Or until the seller agrees to your terms.
